BMW Mini

3 MW (roof-mounted) BMW (UK) Manufacturing - MINI Plant in Oxford

In May 2014 FGEC completed the largest, roof-mounted solar PV array to be installed in southern England. The PV system has a generating capacity over 3 MW comprising 11,650 solar panels which are supported on the unused flat roof areas of the new bodyshop at BMW Group's MINI manufacturing plant in Cowley, Oxford.

These solar arrays have been installed without the need for any roof-penetrating attachments on an innovative, lightweight, aerodynamic support framework and cover an area equivalent to approximately five football pitches (over 20,000 square metres).

3.8 MW – Lyreco (UK) – Main Distribution Centre in Telford, Shropshire

In January 2016, FGEC completed the development of the largest, roof-mounted solar PV system to be installed in the UK in 2015 for Lyreco on its National Distribution Centre in Telford.

The 3.811 MWp array, which comprises made up of 13,860 solar panels, was installed on the gently-pitched roof of Lyreco’s building between October 2015 and January 2016 to primarily cut its carbon footprint and is one of only five rooftop systems in the UK to exceed a yearly output of 3.2 GWh.
